Fabian bought Tarantino as a three-year old and had originally planned his career as a showjumper, however his jumping talents were limited. “One day something remarkable happened”, reminisced Fabian. “I was walking him in-hand and he spooked but instead of trying to run away from me he started to piaffe, it was incredible!“ Tarantino’s career suddenly changed path and he has gone on to become a successful dressage horse. As a six year old he qualified for the German Young Horse Championship and when he turned nine, he successfully competed at Prix St. George level.

Carina and Taratino became a partnership at the end of 2016 where she started competing him at Advanced level. In 2018 their partnership grew and together they won numerous competitions up to Intermediate II. Their international breakthrough followed in 2019 and in 2020 they competed successfully at the German Dressage Championships. However, their best year was still to come. In 2021 Carina and Tarantino became part of the German Team winning the Nations Cup at the CHIO in Aachen, which then followed to their nomination as reserve pair for the Olympic Games in Tokyo as well as the European Championships in Hagen a.T.W. They have also achieved several outstanding placings at competitions such as the Wold Cup in Lyon, in Doha (QAT), Hagen a.T.W. and Aachen.

“We call him Tobi – and he is part of our family”, highlights Carina. “He always gives everything and he has taught me so much through his incredible piaffe and passage-tour. I owe him everything that I have managed to achieve until now, we have done everything together. We did our first Grand Prix together and ended up competing amongst the very best riders in the world. He is very dominant and really knows that he is the star of the stable. He always knows who is handling him and if he can get away with anything”, laughs Carina. “Furthermore, I have never met a horse who loves food as much as he does!”
